While so many of us prepare to shift
from summer mode to back-to-school mode, I wanted to take a moment to let you
know about some exciting things happening this Fall at
DCN!
I wanted to let you know that because of the continued generosity of our people who have been giving to our Building Improvement Fund (in addition to regular giving), we are moving forward with some important projects this summer!
Our first and largest one will be completed in less than two weeks! Our new Ministry Center lighting project includes new computer-controlled theater lights for the stage and the replacement of our chandeliers with 24 recessed “house” lights.
If you ask the average
Christ-follower which spiritual discipline intimidates them the most or makes
them the most squeamish, it’s usually sharing their faith. But what if you found out that simply
crossing the room and saying hello to someone could change that person’s life
forever? Just a few steps to make an
eternal difference! Effective personal
evangelism isn’t about memorizing the right formula or script. It’s also not about having the right
education or being the most spiritually mature person you know! It’s about following God’s leadership
As
we obediently aim for the unmoving target of making disciples, our focus is undeterred, and God’s power and
anointing have become palpable among us.
With less than two weeks of February remaining, 35 adults are committed to being in one of our seven Spring small groups so far, but our goal is to have at least 50!
Connecting with other Christ-followers in small groups is a crucial
part of our discipleship journey, as we’ve discovered through our
recent "Becoming a Healthy Body" message series. When we surround ourselves with others who know us personally, we can help one another live our faith practically. That’s the way God designed it!
As many of you know, on Tuesday, the largest earthquake ever recorded in Haiti—the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere—has caused what officials described as “total disaster and chaos.” At least 140,000 have lost their lives in the 7.0-magnitude earthquake, and the Red Cross estimates another 3 million people—a third of the population—may need emergency relief in shelters. The loss of life is heartbreaking.
Today, we celebrated our volunteers and reflected on the incredible things
that God has been doing here at DCN. Every week at our celebration services,
the Holy Spirit is changing lives as He transforms minds and conforms hearts.
As the summer is about to begin, we’re in
the midst of an exciting time here at DCN! We continue to see
increased growth in attendance, depth of discipleship, and financial
giving. I wanted to make sure you knew that things will continue to be
alive and well this summer!
Here are the highlights of what we’re looking forward to over the next couple months:
It’s an amazing privilege to thank those who worked so hard to make EGGstravaganza
such an overwhelming success this year! Watching the level of
ownership, enthusiasm and loving outward focus displayed by so many of
you through your actions and attitude was simply awesome—and contagious!
This was our first major outreach event of the year and could never
have been attempted without each of you giving of yourselves and
serving as you did.
