Volunteer Appreciation Day

Today, we celebrated our volunteers and reflected on the incredible things that God has been doing here at DCN. Every week at our celebration services, the Holy Spirit is changing lives as He transforms minds and conforms hearts.

Since people want to be where God is, it’s no surprise that over these past two years, we’ve been experiencing the fastest rate of growth since the church began keeping records 32 years ago! In the first half of this year, Sunday mornings have seen a 111% increase in attendance compared with the same period in 2007.

With the influx of people, opportunities abound for us to serve one another in love. At DCN, we continue to see many of our people involved in serving others. Nearly two-thirds of our regular attendees and over 80% of our active members are actively participating in ongoing volunteer service!

With that said, please allow me to thank our ministry leaders (in alphabetic order), and the many volunteers who serve in each of their areas: Brenda DiRusso, SonShine Street coordinator and leadership team member; Carol Ferris, counting team coordinator, coffee prep and refreshments administration; Sharon Janus, welcome team coordinator, women’s ministries director, small group leader; Bruce Leavitt, ushers coordinator; Matt Marchant, facility team leader; small group leader; Teresa Monroe, food coordination & supplies, refreshments team coordinator; Rebekah Milette, worship team leader, children’s team leader; Brad Stoll, student ministries, small group leader.

Thanks as well to our leadership team: Brenda DiRusso, Carol Ann Ferris (also our prayer team coordinator), Steve Janus (also a worship team member and small group leader); Wally Monroe and Beth Stillings (leadership team secretary, financial secretary and office help).

In addition, I want to recognize those individuals who serve in other key areas: our incredibly faithful worship band and production team — Bryan Croad, Megan Gnoza, Steve Janus, Jake Milette and Natalie Swencki; Bob Walker, our treasurer; Don Graves, attendance statistics; Kim Lamarre, Operation Christmas Child coordinator and food pantry donation coordinator; our students who serve in special events like EGGstravaganza, KIDSfest and in worship presentations; and those who have contributed from time to time in other areas.

Know that each of you is loved! Thanks for the privilege of working side by side with you in ministry!
